100 Things To Do In Fort Myers & Sanibel Before You Die

“Visitors come to the Fort Myers/Sanibel coast of Southwest Florida for its pristine white sand beaches, warm blue-green waters, and fabulous year-round weather, but much more awaits discovery.

I had the pleasure to interview Nancy Hamilton, author of 100 Things To Do In Fort Myers & Sanibel Before You Die. Originally from Michigan, Nancy had an opportunity to move to Florida and jumped at the chance. She has been in the Fort Myers area for 33 years and worked for the Visitor and Convention Bureau for almost 25 years. Needless to say she knows the area very well.

This book is a goldmine!

100 Things To Do In Fort Myers & Sanibel Before You Die is filled with everything from restaurants, music, entertainment, history and lots of hidden gems. Nancy wrote this book with a lot of different people in mind. Snowbirds, residents, tourists and anybody who likes to explore. There is really something for everyone in this book. That is exactly why I reached out to Nancy for an interview.

I asked Nancy to recommend something to do that not alot of people knew about. She suggested ECHO Global Farm. ECHO stands for, Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization. ECHO Global Farm is a nonprofit organization that offers a two hour tour of their farm.

During this exciting and information packed tour, you learn how people are working with poor communities in 180 countries to help them improve their agricultural resources and eliminate farming related issues.

This tour offers a culinary experience for the foodie in you.  You get to see and taste different foods from a variety of tropical fruit trees and plants. There is also an Urban Garden demonstration to learn how to plant a garden without using any soil.

Make sure to stop by the Global Nursery and bookstore to purchase some seeds and plants for your own garden.

Nancy’s book, 100 Things To Do In Fort Myers & Sanibel Before You Die is available on amazon. There are tips as well as suggested itineraries throughout the book to help you explore the area. This book is a must have when you are exploring the Fort Myers and Sanibel area. I can’t wait for my next trip to The Favorite Sun so I can check out some of the places Nancy has written about.

Can you do all 100 things in this book?  I’m certainly going to try, as if I needed yet another challenge!
