Reasons to Visit Fort Myers
If you are looking for a perfect place for a family vacation, a ladies only weekend or a romantic getaway Fort Myers is the place to go. The area is known for their beautiful beaches, historic downtown area, wildlife preserves, beach front restaurants, water sports and golfing. You’ll find something for everyone. Here are a just a few of the reasons to visit Fort Myers.
Fort Myers Beach This beach is known for it’s seven mile stretch of beautiful soft sand. The water that surrounds the beach is shallow and typically calm, so it’s a great place to bring little ones. It’s not uncommon to be relaxing in the beach and see a pair of dolphins swim by. You’ll also find cute shops, restaurants and live entertainment. One of my favorite things to do is watch the sunset from the Fort Myers Pier. Make sure you check out one of the many restaurants that overlook the beach. The Pier Side Grill and Blowfish Bar is a great place to have dinner and enjoy the sunset. Just make sure you get there early, it gets very crowded.
The Historic River District In Downtown Fort Myers you’ll find the Historic River District. The last time I was in Fort Myers my friends and I were lucky enough to go on the first Friday of the month. The first Friday of each month the Historic River District hosts, Art Walk. Enjoy a self guided tour through the several art galleries. There is live entertainment, exhibits, and vendors to check out. Not to mention some really good restaurants. If you want more information on the art walk, events or things to do in the River District click here.
Wildlife Preserves There is no shortage of wildlife to enjoy in Fort Myers. Manatees, alligators, and over 200 different species of birds are just some of the creatures you could bump into when visiting one of the many wildlife preserves in Fort Myers. One that I recommend is Manatee Park. During the colder months, manatee flock here to enjoy the Florida winters.
