Whole Foods is coming to Fort Myers
Corey Perrine/Staff Michael Burks owner of Tropical Smoothie Cafes in Estero and Naples is seen dressed as a banana Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at Riverside Park in Bonita Springs. "Fruit smoothies, two tickets!" Burks yelled. A few thousand came out to enjoy the 20th anniversary of the Taste of Bonita. The Rotary Club of Bonita Springs and Physicians Regional Health Care System hosted the event. The celebration featured local food, music, games, a car show, prizes and more. The event has raised more than $500,000 in the past 10 years for charitable causes supported by the Rotary Club, including Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida, the Bonita Springs Assistance Office, New Horizon’s Super Girls Club, the Wheelchair Foundation and many others. Sunday is considered the main day with a chance to sample from about 25 locally owned restaurants.
